EDC Las Vegas runs at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway every May for three nights — Friday, Saturday, and Sunday — across multiple kinetic stages that are among the most architecturally ambitious in festival production. The festival runs from dusk until dawn, with gates opening at 7pm and the last act finishing at 6am. The desert air, the night sky above the speedway, and Insomniac's production scale combine to make it the most visually spectacular electronic music festival in North America.
Las Vegas: days 1 to 3
Fly into Harry Reid International (LAS). Las Vegas is a day-and-night city — the Strip casinos, the Fremont Street Experience, the restaurant scene (the highest concentration of celebrity chef restaurants outside NYC), and the shows. But beyond the Strip: the Neon Museum (decommissioned casino signs, extraordinary at dusk), the Arts District with the First Friday monthly gallery event, and the Nevada desert immediately accessible — Red Rock Canyon is 30 minutes from the Strip, the Valley of Fire an hour. Eat at: Lotus of Siam (Thai, best in the US), Esther's Kitchen (Italian, Arts District), Flock & Fowl (Hainanese chicken rice).
EDC Las Vegas: days 4 to 6
The Las Vegas Motor Speedway is 15 miles north of the Strip. Festival shuttles run from multiple Strip hotels — the shuttle is strongly recommended over driving. The festival opens at 7pm, runs continuously, and closes at 6am. Seven stages: the two kinetic mainstages (kineticFIELD and circuitGROUNDS), the Neon Garden (underground), Cosmic Meadow, the Basspod, the Wasteland, and the BassPod. The desert sky above the speedway at 2am, with the stages lit and the crowd at its peak, is the EDC image.
Grand Canyon and Zion: days 7 to 10
Rent a car and drive east from Las Vegas on US-93 to the Grand Canyon South Rim — 4 hours through the Nevada and Arizona high desert. The South Rim is accessible year-round (the North Rim closes in winter). The Bright Angel Trail descends into the canyon — 3 miles down to the first rest house, strenuous in May heat. The Rim Trail follows the canyon edge for 13 miles and is the best way to experience the full panorama. Drive back west and north to Zion National Park in Utah — 3 hours from the Grand Canyon. The Narrows (hiking upstream through a river slot canyon) and Angel's Landing (the chain-assisted summit hike with the best views) are the two essential trails. Fly home from Las Vegas.
